There is a beautiful dua in the Quran that teaches us something profound about Rizq (provision), gratitude, and asking Allah for His blessings.

When Prophet Isa (AS) was asked by his disciples for a table of food from heaven, he turned to Allah and supplicated:

(This dua below is one of the many powerful Duas of the Prophets in Islam mentioned in the Quran.)

❝

Allahuma Rabbanā 'Anzil Alaynā Mā'idatan Mina s-Samā'i TakūnuLanā Īdāan Li'wwalinā Wa 'Ākhirinā Wa 'Āyatan Minka

Wa Arzuqnā Wa 'Anta Khayru r-Rāziqīn

“O Allah, our Lord, send down to us a table [spread with food] from heaven to be for us a festival for the first of us and the last of us and a sign from You. And provide for us, for You are the best of providers.”

Surah Al-Ma’idah 5:114

And Allah SWT answered:

❝

“Indeed, I will send it down to you…”

Surah Al-Ma’idah 5:115

SubhanAllah! Imagine asking Allah for food, and He promises to send it directly from heaven!

But look closely. There are hidden gems in this duʿā that we can apply when asking Allah for Rizq.

The Hidden Secrets

1. Ask Allah for BIG Things

Prophet Isa (AS) asked for something extraordinary because he knew nothing was impossible for Allah. Never limit your dues because of your circumstances. Allah's treasures are limitless.

2. Ask for Rizq That Comes With Barakah

Prophet Isa (AS) didn't simply ask for food. He asked that it become a source of celebration and a sign from Allah. Likewise, don't just ask for wealth. Ask for halal wealth filled with barakah that benefits you, your family, and others in the Ummah.

3. Call Upon Allah by His Beautiful Attributes

Notice how Prophet Isa (AS) concluded:

“And provide for us, for You are the best of providers.”

He acknowledged Allah as the ultimate Provider. When seeking provision, call upon Ar-Razzaq (The Provider) and Al-Wahhab (The Bestower).

4. Remember That Rizq Is More Than Money

Good health, a righteous spouse, loving family, beneficial knowledge, and peace of mind are all forms of Rizq. Sometimes Allah's greatest gifts aren't deposited into our bank accounts.

A Final Reminder

If you're struggling financially, searching for employment, hoping for marriage, or worried about your future, remember this dua of Prophet Isa (AS).

Ask Allah generously. Ask with humility. Ask for barakah. And trust His wisdom.

Remember, Allah's response to dua comes according to His wisdom and timing, not necessarily in the exact form we expect.

The One who promised to send a table from heaven is more than capable of providing for you through means you never imagined.

Never underestimate the generosity of Ar-Razzaq.
