Our beloved Prophet ﷺ wasn't only the final Messenger of Allah. During his lifetime, he also carried immense worldly responsibilities. He was a successful statesman, military commander, judge, educator, community leader, husband, father, and friend—all while fulfilling his greatest role as the Messenger of Allah.
Most importantly, he always turned to Allah and regularly made this dua:
(This dua below is one of the many powerful Duas of the Prophets in Islam mentioned in the Quran.)
Allahumma innī a’ūdhu bika minal-hammi wal-ḥazani, wal-‘ajzi, wal-kasli, wal-bukhli wal-jubni, wa Dala’id-dayni wa ghalabatir-rijāli
O Allah, I seek refuge in You from worry and grief, from incapacity and laziness, from cowardice and miserliness, from being heavily in debt, and from being overpowered by others.
SubhanAllah. Even the Prophet ﷺ sought Allah's protection from laziness and the other obstacles that prevent us from fulfilling our responsibilities, becoming productive.
If the most accomplished person to ever walk this earth constantly asked Allah for help in overcoming barriers to become productive, how much more should we?
Tomorrow morning, before opening your phone or starting your to-do list, begin with this du'a. Ask Allah to remove what holds you back, place barakah in your time, and grant you the strength to fulfill both your worldly responsibilities and your obligations to Him.
