This was the dua of Prophet Sulaiman (AS).

(This dua below is one of the many powerful Duas of the Prophets in Islam mentioned in the Quran.)

Rabbigh fir lee wa hab lee mulkal laa yambaghee li ahadin min ba’dee innaka Antal Wahhaab

My Lord, forgive me and grant me a kingdom such as will not belong to anyone after me. Indeed, You are the Bestower.

Surah Sad Ayat 35

The Moment Behind the Dua

Prophet Sulaiman (AS) had been tested in his life and kingdom. After reflecting deeply, he turned back to Allah with humility.

And look at how he made his famous Dua:

  • He started with seeking forgiveness

  • Then he asked for something massive

  • And he called upon Allah by His Name: Al-Wahhāb (The One Who Gives Generously)

This wasn’t just a request…

It was a perfectly structured Dua.

And Look How Allah Answered

Allah didn’t just give him a kingdom.

He gave him a dominion unlike anything in human history:

- Control over the wind

- Authority over the jinn

- Power, wealth, and a vast kingdom

- Obedience from creation (i.e. animals) by Allah’s permission

A response on a completely unimaginable scale.

The Secrets Hidden in This Dua

1. Start with Istighfar (Seeking Forgiveness)

“Rabbi ighfir lī…”

Purifying yourself before asking opens doors.

2. Don’t Be Afraid to Ask BIG

Prophet Sulaiman (AS) didn’t ask small—he asked for something Grand.

Because he knew he was asking Al-Wahhab (The Supreme Bestower

or Giver of Gifts).

3. Ask for What Is Truly Beneficial

Prophet Sulaiman (AS) kingdom wasn’t for ego—it was for justice, leadership, and servitude of good.

4. Call Upon Allah by His Names (99 Names)

“Indeed, You are Al-Wahhāb”

When you use Allah’s names, you’re calling on specific attributes of His divine mercy and grace.

5. Combine Humility + Certainty (Yaqeen)

He asked as a servant… but with full certainty (Yaqeen) in Allah’s will, plan and ability

to answer.

Conclusion

Prophet Sulaiman (AS) and his famous Dua teaches us:

  • Ask Allah like you believe in His greatness

  • Ask Him like you know He is Al-Wahhāb

Because when Allah gives…

He gives in ways that go beyond imagination.
